Piteå Summer Games teve a sua 1ª edição em 1990 e contou com 196 equipas de 3 países.
Atualmente, é o 2º maior torneio da Suécia e o 5º maior do mundo. Todos os anos, conta com cerca de 800 equipas dos 5 continentes nos vários escalões masculinos e femininos, desde os Benjamins B até aos Juvenis.
Piteå Summer Games realiza-se durante o solstício de verão e é igualmente designado como o torneio do sol da meia noite, fenómeno apenas visível nalguns pontos do globo, entre os quais Piteå.

Piteå Summer Games is located in the North of Sweden, and the tournament is held in the city of Piteå, also known as the Nordic Riviera. Boys and gild between ages of 8-17 play, and the opening ceremony with a parade through the center of Piteå contains about 15 000 players and leaders. Piteå is a safe and welcoming place and attracts about 800 teams from around the world every year.
